Philippines – Thirty repatriated overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their immediate relatives from different provinces benefited from the Villar Foundation’s 2nd OFW Skills-up Training which was launched last Friday.
The training aims to help former OFWs and their families who are having difficulty in finding employment after their return to the country.
The foundation’s managing director, former Las Pinas Representative Cynthia Villar, said that the program provides the scholars necessary training, particularly on commercial cooking and housekeeping.
Villar said the vocational skills training will run for three months, including their on-the-job training.
She added that the foundation encouraged OFWs to study commercial cooking and housekeeping after finding that they are becoming in-demand in Asian countries, especially in Singapore.
“In partnership with the Tech Pacific College led by its Director Takashi Miyahara, the foundation is elated with the schools providing opportunity to their scholars especially those taking up commercial cooking. (Jean Fernando)
